This charming cottage, with a pretty garden and large pool is a four minute walk from Sandy Almiros Beach on the north coast of Corfu. It is perfect for beach-lovers and pool lovers alike.

Almiros is 8km long; a huge unspoilt swathe of beach, ideal for children, with gently shelving crystal clear waters, and reached by a winding road through sand dunes to a massive wild untamed area. Blue flag status enriches this wild natural coastline with subtle husbandry. Along the beach there are small tavernas, bars, and a couple of mini-markets.


The cottage has a colourful garden made private by shrubs, with a large palm tree, purple bougainvillea and an appealing pergola for al fresco lunches. The pool and terrace are enclosed by lawns on which to spread out on and the front patio opens out from the kitchen, cleverly arranged for outdoor breakfasts. Inside, the dining area leads into the sitting room, with modern fresh décor, and the twin and double bedrooms, quietly located, have a shared patio.

At the front of the beach road is an elegant ( adult only) hotel on the left, and fields on the right, then a delicious sensation of freedom and calmness is experienced as the extent of the beach reveals itself for the first time. The rolling hills of Albania can be seen opposite.

A 7 kilometre coastal path stretches all the way from Roda to Acharavi and on to Almiros, passing a salt lake and nature reserve and ending finally at Agios Spyridon and Molos bay.

This area of North Corfu is a nature lover’s paradise, there are many butterflies and wild flowers. Behind the hamlet, there is a small freshwater lake with wildlife and some smaller, even quieter beaches. Acharavi and Kassiopi are both busier villages 10 minutes’ drive away, and of course, Corfu town, with its unique architecture and ambience is worth a visit.

 
Almiros Beach guests have use of the neighbouring tennis courts belonging to the (adults only) hotel.
