A property that combines the tranquillity of a rural setting with easy access to amenities is always a pleasure to discover and so it was with delight that we viewed this pretty stone cottage. Nestling in colourful gardens amidst fields of vines and rolling woodland, the surroundings are truly rural and yet the picturesque market town of Ponte de Lima with its ornate buildings and wide sandy river beaches is an easy 10 minute drive.
The restoration has respected the original 18th Century features so that a vast traditional hearth spans one wall of the spacious kitchen, a vaulted wooden ceiling covers the sitting room and throughout, open stone walls combine with pretty archways.
Outside, abundant foliage and covered patios provide welcome pockets of shade around the swimming pool, whilst on a lower level lies a lawned area with a badminton net.
A gentle stroll along cobbled lanes will take you to the nearest shop, which sells basic items, whilst Ponte de Lima with its wide range of local restaurants is 5km from the house. The attractive port of Viana do Castelo and its nearby stretches of dune-backed beach can be reached in 15 minutes.
Twin single beds can be locked together to become a double. Please advise at time of booking.
