Just outside the local village of Orbacem, a cobbled country lane winds its way through fields and woodland to form the route to this charming cottage of honey coloured stone. Nestling in a clearing beneath forested hillside, it looks out across a far reaching panorama of the interlocking slopes that border the River Âncora as it makes its way to the nearby sea.

The sensitive restoration of the 19th Century property has respected the charm of the original character whilst ensuring that comfort and convenience is provided throughout.

Doors from both kitchen and living room open out onto a wide terrace, shaded by vines. With an in-built barbecue within easy reach on one side and the impressive views clearly visible ahead, this forms an ideal spot for outdoor catering. Walk up some stone steps to the side of this and the swimming pool, thoughtfully gated, sits on an upper level whilst a spacious area of grassland, dotted with fruit trees, lies below.

Though rurally situated, this country retreat also enjoys the advantage of being close to the coast. A mere 12 minute drive away is the local fishing village of Vila Praia de Âncora, where a wide choice of restaurants look out across the adjacent sandy beaches and a daily morning market sells the fresh catch.  Closer to hand, walkers will be able to enjoy a variety of routes from their doorstep, there being a number of pathways in the surrounding countryside.
