In an elevated position that affords impressive views across a picturesque landscape of green terraced slopes, this rustic stone cottage sits snugly amidst mature, leafy gardens and provides an ideal retreat for couples and smaller families.
The restoration has preserved many of the original features, with what is now the living area being the oldest part of the building. Here, an old stone hearth and typical fireplace are among some of the many historic items that have been subtly combined with cushioned sofas and modern appliances.
Beyond, a corridor leads the way to the newer part, where smart bedrooms display solid furnishings of local design. From the living room, a door opens out onto a vine covered terrace, in front of which spread the spacious grassy grounds, where the swimming pool is to be found. The impressive vista creates a pleasing backdrop.
A short drive down the hillside will take you to the village of Rio Mau, which is 2.5km away and has a small shop that sells basic items. A local restaurant can be reached by way of a 10 minute drive, whilst for a greater range of amenities, a good choice of restaurants and an 18 hole golf course, the attractive riverside town of Ponte de Lima is 15km from the house.
Whilst there are three bedrooms, the accommodation is suitable for a maximum of four guests.
