Those who possess property in Monte Lourido are usually the envy of the local people of Galicia and it is easy to see why. This area of stylish homes occupies a prestigious position on the slopes of a small hill, just at the end of the long sweep of golden sands that is Playa América. Surrounded on almost all sides by water and occupying elevated terrain, the sea views from here are superb whilst the beach, its adjacent cafés, restaurants and water sport facilities are all within walking distance.

It was therefore with great delight that we discovered Villa Regina, a smart semi-detached home which enjoys this much sought after setting.  Within its tiered grounds, steps lead the way down through colourful flowerbeds to the swimming pool, its surrounding lawns and an impressive outdoor dining area.  Ahead, the ocean stretches out to the horizon; to the left in the distance, the chic town of Baiona can be seen hugging the coast; to the right, it is Playa America that occupies the shoreline. The cafés and restaurants of the beach can be reached by way of a 600 metre walk downhill from the house, whilst fashionable Baiona with its ancient alleyways and smart squares is only 4km away.

Inside, smart and spacious rooms display carpentry of the highest quality.  Its position on one of the upper floors means that the sitting room enjoys superb panoramic sea views through its wide French windows whilst the kitchen is on the ground floor, within easy reach of the outdoor barbecue area.
