This stunning, colonial-style house, set in the little hamlet of Azinheiro, commands sweeping views of the surrounding landscape and coastline from its impressive elevated position.

Designed by Jose Meixa, one of Portugal's most famous landscape gardeners, the beautifully maintained grounds of the property total over 6000m² and feature rolling lawns, colourful rockeries, mature pine and fruit trees as well as a vast variety of indigenous Mediterranean shrubs.

Originating from the ruins of a tumbledown farm building (now converted into a lovely annex with twin beds and en suite shower room) Casa Nova da Eira has grown into a magnificently proportioned and imposing residence.

A cobbled courtyard leads to the front door and entrance hall off which the living accommodation and bedrooms radiate. Light, airy and very welcoming throughout, the room distribution provides interesting options for a larger family or group of sharing friends.

Two of the ground floor bedrooms have twin single beds, en suite bathrooms and views across the grounds while the third has three single beds, an en suite bathroom, adjacent family/reading room and doors onto the garden. The large sitting/dining area features an open fireplace, vaulted Portuguese ceiling and doors onto a shaded dining terrace with gorgeous views over the garden to the pool while the well-appointed kitchen has two fridges a wine cooler and separate pantry.

The entire first floor has been given over to the principal suite comprising a spacious double bedroom, bathroom and shower, a dressing room and a balcony with far-reaching views to the Atlantic.

Elegantly displayed throughout Casa Nova da Eira, fine paintings and an interesting collection of model boats in glass cases, betray the owner's enthusiasm for art and sailing. A restaurant, café and minimarket for essentials are within 1.8kms while Estói (4.7kms) boasts Roman ruins, a Pousada, pretty 16th Century church and a cluster of typical local restaurants. Olhaõ (8kms) and Faro (a twenty minute drive) have all amenities and regular ferries that ply the short distance across to the archipelago of little islands that make up the Ria Formosa Natural Park.

Reached via a bridge Faro Island, with its beautiful sandy beach, makes a lovely day trip while golfers have the famous courses at Tavira, Quinta do Lago and Vilamoura all within a 25 - 30 minute drive.

Maid service 5 days per week. Parties paying the small party rate (for up to 9 people) will not have access to the annex. Air conditioning in the twin bedroom and WiFi are payable separately (if used) and directly to the housekeeper.
