This charmingly restored stone hay barn nestles alongside other attractive village houses that line the narrow cobbled lane leading to the centre of the delightful medieval village of Ullastret, where a local grocers and an appealing selection of fine restaurants are to be found.

In former times, cattle were driven from the nearby meadows up, past La Pallissa, to auction in the main square, which is just 200 metres from the house. Nowadays, this square is lined with smart terraces where meals can be enjoyed whilst watching the comings and goings of village life and admiring the lovely golden stone buildings that make this such a picturesque location.

Many original features from the property's rural heritage have been retained. Hewn wood ceiling beams, terracotta tiles and exposed stone all combine to create a warm and inviting home. The open plan kitchen/dining area opens onto an enclosed courtyard, which is ideal for relaxing in the sun or cooling off in the inviting splash pool. Tasteful country colours give each room an identity of its own and as you open the heavy solid antique entrance door the character of this accommodation just draws you in.

Ullastret is but one of many beautiful ancient stone hamlets hidden away amidst the fields of sunflowers, vineyards, olive groves and dense cork forests that have made this area such a popular haunt for landscape artists from all over Europe.  With the unspoilt beaches of Llafranc, Tamariu and Aigua Blava just 15 minutes drive away, La Pallissa is the ideal choice for those wishing to enjoy traditional rural village life surrounded by stunning countryside and within easy reach of the sparkling Mediterranean.

Use of the air conditioning is payable locally
