Villa Description
Tucked away within a mature olive grove, Daphne occupies a select, secluded and undoubtedly privileged position on the fringes of one of Corfu’s most delightful and traditional villages. This is the perfect base in which to relax, unwind and immerse oneself in the culture, traditions and inimitable Greek spirit that abounds in this particularly pretty corner of Corfu.
Local stone, a wealth of traditional materials and various rustic features blend seamlessly with modern comforts. Cool and spacious, the stylish interior has a most welcoming rural ambience with doors from the open plan living area leading onto a large terrace next to the private pool which sits surrounded by olive trees.
Alongside the pool, the shaded dining area makes an excellent spot for an evening barbecue as the gentle buzz of cicadas or the soothing chimes of distant goat bells drift across the hillside.
The view from Daphne extends downhill over rolling olive groves to the seaside village of Arillas and its neighbouring islets. Local beaches are easily accessible including the sandy, Blue Flag beach of Arillas which is just a 5 minute drive and the wonderful sandy beaches of Agios Georgios and Agios Stefanos, both of which are under a 15 minute drive and also proudly fly Blue Flags.
Minimarkets, a bakery, bars and restaurants can all be found in Arillas while one of our favourite tavernas on the whole island, specialising in delicious, fresh organic Corfiot dishes is just a short stroll away.
Corfu Town with its excellent shops and restaurants, elegant esplanade, rich array of Venetian fortresses and numerous stately residences is a 40 minute drive away. Located on the outskirts of the town is the 200 year old palace of Mon Repos, summer residence of the Greek Royal family and birthplace of Prince Philip. The palace gardens alone are a real treat with footpaths leading down through a verdant oasis of rare Mediterranean plants to a private beach café where, in the main summer months, a refreshing drink or light lunch can be enjoyed at leisure
