Eight thousand square metres of lawned gardens, interspersed with colourful flowerbeds and sweeping down to a delightful children’'s play area, an in-built barbecue and a swimming pool provide the idyllic setting of this 300 year old farmhouse, which has recently been restored to provide welcoming and stylishly furnished accommodation that ranks amongst some of the finest in our portfolio.

The stone built ‘'horreos' that stand within the grounds bear witness to the property's history, since in former times it was one of the most important producers of corn in the area and it was in these attractive grain stores that the harvest was kept. As in many important country homes in Galicia they have been carefully preserved and now form a feature that is both eye-catching and a symbol of status.

Over recent years, the present owner has transformed O Bergando into a charming country residence that oozes charm and character. The finest of craftsmanship has been employed to restore thick stone walls and intricate wood beamed ceilings and these now form a striking backdrop for the warm coloured fabrics and restored antique furniture that occupy the spacious and welcoming rooms.

Each of the eight beautifully presented bedrooms come complete with their own en suite bath or shower room with those on the first floor being particularly charming thanks to their sloping wood ceilings.

Downstairs on the lower ground floor an extensive living room is ideal for large gatherings, its spacious dimensions being used to house different sections of cushioned sofas and a smart dining area. Subtle lighting here highlights the soft coloured stone of the walls whilst attractive traditional doors provide convenient access out to the garden.

Outside, the sweeping grounds look out onto a picturesque scene of lush wooded countryside, whilst to the back the charming stone hamlet of Loureiro seems to have changed little over the years, its narrow lanes leading to higgledy piggledy stone built homes, a village church and local shop, all of which are just a short stroll from the house.

Two kilometres away the pretty village of Carballedo sits alongside the river and offers local shops and two restaurants whilst only 15km from O Bergando is historic Pontevedra, just beyond which are the many sheltered sandy beaches that line the indented coastline of this stunning corner of Galicia.

En route and just a short drive from the house, a picturesque spot by the river has been prepared for river bathing, with an adjacent children’'s play area and bar.

Maid service is daily. As all beds are double, additional single beds may be provided as long as the capacity is not exceeded.
