Fotini Kalivi is an excellent choice for a couple seeking a peaceful, romantic holiday in a serene and very private setting. Comfortable accommodation, a lovely private swimming pool and extensive grounds complemented by stunning views have made Fotini one of our most popular Skopelos properties.

The attractively decorated ground floor of the Kalivi (Greek for ‘traditional farm cottage’) is home to an open plan living area, a recently renovated kitchen and a shower room. The staircase leads up to the spacious, air conditioned bedroom where a sturdy, wrought iron double bed sits under the wood beamed ceiling.

This charming cottage belonged to its current owner, Fotini’s grandmother. Originally, extensive vineyards covered the four acres of surrounding land and the cloudy wine and powerful ouzo produced were quickly consumed during festivals and feast days.

Externally, the expansive grounds feature an abundance of outdoor terraces with an eye-catching private swimming pool basking proudly in a very sunny and secluded spot. Next to the barbecue Fotini has thoughtfully built a pergola shaded dining area plus an additional covered terrace above the pool from which the far-reaching views over the picturesque valley towards Glysteri are truly stunning. This pastoral scene is never more idyllic than in the early evening when the gentle tinkle of goat bells floats lazily across the hills.

Nearby Kastro (1.5km) and Agios Konstantinos (2km) have minimarkets for essentials, the latter also home to two tavernas as well as an attractive pebble beach. An easy 3km drive brings you to Skopelos Town or, in the other direction, to delightfully photogenic Glysteri, a lovely sandy stretch of coastline lapped by crystal clear Aegean waters.

To truly explore the many faces of this gorgeous island why not take a wander through the olive groves and fruit orchards that have been the main pillar of the Skopelos economy for centuries. Various walking trails will take you back in time as you stumble upon ancient churches, ruined monasteries and other old farm cottages (or ‘kalivia’). Alternatively, you could follow the example set by many village elders and sit in a local kafenion, linger over a traditional Greek coffee and do nothing except watch the world go by!
