A haven of tranquillity, Lou Calvel sits within private woodland in the picturesque Lot region of South West France where the densely forested landscape teems with a rich diversity of flora and fauna. Hedgerows of bluebells, posies and colourful orchids provide both walkers and keen photographers with much to admire while local market stalls always offer a wealth of freshly harvested, seasonal produce including asparagus, herbs and a wide variety of wild mushrooms.

In creating this impressive country house every attention has been given to ensure the honey-coloured local stone of the façade sympathetically combines with the individually chosen, reclaimed materials decorating the interior.

Heavy wooden doors, beamed ceilings, an imposing fireplace and a reclaimed stone basin set into the wall of the living area are all eye-catching features while the bespoke, open-tread staircase to one side is virtually a work of art. Modern day appliances bring the house seamlessly into the twenty-first century and further enhance a property that is contemporary yet at the same time totally at home within its pastoral landscape.

Outside, surrounded by lawn, the larger than average private pool enjoys a particularly sunny position and a fine, covered terrace nearby provides shady refuge for the hotter parts of the day.

Home to a variety of shops, restaurants and bars the village of Cazals lies just 5km away while, a little further afield, the large town of Cahors (30km) is particularly well known for its production of full-bodied red wines.

Various walking trails and cycling routes snake through the surrounding countryside and you are just minutes away from the boundaries of the equally beautiful Dordogne region whose dramatic limestone gorges and imposing chateaux are a must on any itinerary.

Double beds in both bedrooms can be separated to make twin beds - please advise at time of booking.
