Just 3km from the blissfully unspoilt north eastern coast with its rugged shoreline, secret swimming pools and charming seaside towns, the pretty streets and squares of Guatiza epitomise the traditional architecture and laid back ambience of a typical island village. Life still revolves around the atmospheric main square, which together with the local supermarket, a couple of bars and a restaurant serving evening meals is just a short stroll from the house. However, the village is perhaps best known for its famous Cactus Garden, a wonderful display of the plant world’s finest species, created by the island-born artist and architect Cesar Manrique.
When not exploring these charming surroundings, guests can relax and enjoy the homely details and smart facilities provided at Villa Placeres. Originally set up and furnished as the owner’s principal residence it is spacious and beautifully presented, with a tasteful décor of light paintwork and cool terracotta floor tiles, punctuated with the rich colours of attractive upholstery. Outside, the external space is ideally prepared for lazy days by the pool, with a covered barbecue area spanning one end of the poolside terrace and easy access provided by patio doors from the living room.
Parties paying the small party rate will have use of one bedroom only. The owners live in an apartment to the rear of the property, which has separate access. They will not use the facilities and swimming pool of Villa Placeres and your privacy is assured.
