Including several quintessentially Portuguese features, the architecture of Casa Laura is in turn both modern and traditional with ceramic tiles, rounded archways and chimney stacks fully complementing the striking lines of the glazing.
Bright whitewashed walls and three sets of French windows allow plenty of light into the living space where an elegant fusion of contemporary and older styles has again been sought; a solid wooden dresser contrasts effectively with the glass dining table, cool terracotta tiled floors are softened by cream rugs and plush seating. Air conditioning in the living/dining room and two of the three en suite bedrooms is a thoughtful addition to facilities.
Walking outside, the attractive pool area is edged by a low, courtyard-style wall and fringed by a selection of established trees and shrubs creating a semi-tropical haven and providing a good level of privacy from neighbouring properties. There is ample terrace space for enjoying the sunshine, together with a covered dining area and a charming barbecue corner with stone table and bench to one side. Accessed either through the principal bedroom or via external steps, the large first floor terrace looks directly down onto the pool and garden; a real suntrap during the day and a lovely spot for a sundowner in the evening!
A stroll of some 450m brings you to two local restaurants with a further small selection of bars, restaurants and local shops just a few hundred metres further on. A wider range of amenities and the nearest beach are just 3.5km away in the centre of Carvoeiro while several other excellent beaches and the renowned Vale do Milho golf course lie within a 15 minute drive. Heading inland past groves of orange and almond trees, the former capital of The Algarve, Silves (12km) is well worth a visit to explore its atmospheric streets winding up to an imposing gothic castle built of distinctive red sandstone.
