Archways from the living room into the dining area and country style kitchen are outlined by terracotta red bricks, echoed by matching brick edging around the decorative alcoves and fireplace. Other eye-catching, original features include vaulted, beamed ceilings and wrought ironwork set into the doors producing an authentic and inviting ambience.
As is customary in this region, quality dark wood furniture throughout the living area and bedrooms is perfectly balanced by the fresh whitewashed walls that help keep the house agreeably cool in the height of summer. Sliding doors lead from the dining room to a long covered terrace and the attractive garden beyond.
Trailing bougainvillea and citrus bushes add splashes of colour, a monkey puzzle tree set in the lawn beside the house offers additional shade while the private pool set in spacious terracing enjoys the full sun. Providing a lovely venue for al fresco barbecues, the covered summer kitchen on the far side of the pool features a unique glass-topped table fashioned from a wagon wheel alongside a very impressive and brightly decorated Portuguese cart. While, effectively, semi-detached (the charming property owners live adjacent), Quinta dos Bisavos enjoys good seclusion. Mostly enclosed, courtyard style, a combination of tall walls, flowering plants and mature shrubs ensure privacy around the pool and garden is in no way compromised.
Restaurants and a supermarket can be found in Ferreiras (1.5km), with a wider selection of restaurants and shops at Guia (4km) or Algoz (5.3km), a pretty village whose streets host a daily fish and fruit market. Just above Algoz, the chapel of Our Lady of the Pillar is a good place to stop and admire the panoramic view across rooftops and surrounding groves of orange, fig and almond trees down to the sea. The nearest sandy beach is at cosmopolitan Albufeira (7km) with a vast selection of smaller coves inviting easy discovery all along the coast. Vilamoura (15km) boasts numerous cafés, boutiques, tennis and water sport centres as well as several world class golf courses.
We mention for information only that the owners live adjacent to Quinta dos Bisavos. With the exception of the entrance driveway they do not use any of the house facilities and your privacy is completely assured at all times.
