Tucked away off an unmade country track, on a gentle, pine-fringed incline Ana enjoys a gorgeous rural location and yet is only 4km from the Blue Flag, sandy beach and thriving family-orientated coastal town of Santa Eulalia. Approaching along the private driveway you are greeted by the eye-catching spectacle of a shimmering turquoise pool surrounded by flower bedecked terracing. Chunky Roman steps may well prompt an impromptu swim while the adjacent patio, shaded Bedouin style with overlapping canvas sails, simply invites you to kick back and relax with a glass of something chilled.

Cross the threshold from the covered outdoor dining terrace into the spacious living/dining room and this generously proportioned house is a delight to discover. Retaining a classical air, charming wall-hung tapestries, a glass chandelier and ornate carved furniture blend seamlessly with contemporary décor establishing a comfortable hub to the villa. Look a little closer and you may well discern a subtle north-African influence in the house décor.

In true Ibicencan style the kitchen is a very good size, traditionally designed and well-equipped for family catering. Accessed off the central hallway all three bedrooms are, once again, spacious with contrasting tiled floors, domed doorways and ecclesiastically shaped window frames. Each has a dedicated bath or shower room and all display an adroit touch in the decoration which sees an eclectic collection of the old and new deftly mixed together to emphasise the airy, cool spaces so important in a warm climate.

Outside, centred on the charming kidney-shaped private pool, whitewashed walls, ornate columns and smart terracotta tiled verandas are fringed by lawn and luxuriant flora and fauna. Stout Ali Baba-type urns spout colourful geraniums while fanciful statues and a pretty dry stone wall add elegance and intimacy to the pool terrace, a favoured spot and one not easily forsaken. Tucked snugly into a wall alcove, the barbecue is sure to become the focal point for laid back evenings dining under the stars whilst cicadas chirrup and trees stir in the gentle breeze.

Restful days can also be indulged at the nearest sandy beaches. Platja des Riu/Mariner’s Beach (a 10 minute drive) and Cala Llonga (a 20 minute drive) both of which have excellent amenities and a range of watersports including windsurfing, parasailing, jet skis, pedaloes, snorkelling and scuba diving.

If the lure of bright lights becomes irresistible, relaxed Santa Eulalia (4km) or lively Ibiza Town (11km) are both within easy distance, each bursting with shops, bars, restaurants, local character…and local characters! It is a joy to saunter through these lovely towns, soaking up the unique atmosphere and deciding where to dine. The flea market of Cala Llenya and colourful ‘hippy markets’ of Es Cana and San Carlos are also great fun to visit whilst a wealth of activities from mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, walking the coastal footpaths, horse-riding and even watching the sunset from a hot air balloon are amongst the numerous unique experiences that can be enjoyed on this fascinating island.
