The atmosphere in the well appointed interior is intimate and relaxed with a modern yet classic flavour. Terracotta tiled floors and simple, tasteful décor contribute considerable charm while a carefully positioned air conditioning unit keeps the whole house cool. Pretty woodland scenery is framed by the windows of the elegant double bedroom which has a bathroom conveniently adjacent and the dining/kitchen area is imbued with good creature comforts. Heart of the home is an attractive, comfortably furnished living room, a light and peaceful haven in which to while away a little time if sanctuary is needed from the midday sun. As we hope these accompanying photographs show, the amount of space on offer is most impressive and normally associated with a property of much larger capacity. Long, lazy days reclining on the ample sun terrace will merge seamlessly into evenings spent dining next to the pool. Breathing in the fresh aroma of pine, whilst marvelling at the expanse of fields and hills beyond, will make it tempting not to stray far from this tranquil hideaway however this beguiling island has plenty to entice. A plethora of excellent beaches are just waiting to be discovered; those mentioned above (as well as numerous others near to them) are great for a quick dip but some of the more secluded coves are also well worth seeking out. Locally referred to as the “cove of mystery” (although nobody seems to know exactly why!) tiny Cala Mastella, just past San Carlos, has beautifully clear water for bathing and a respected waterfront fish restaurant; Cala Gracioneta on the west coast is a quaint, rustic cove, perfect for snorkelling, whilst Cala Olivera, another serene little spot on the East coast, is a lovely place to head for with a picnic. San Carlos is a laid back treat; a small charming village centred on a beautiful church it has played host to a community of artists for decades. An unmistakeably bohemian vibe pervades to this day, best epitomised by the popular Saturday Hippy Market (and occasional night markets on Sunday and Monday) held in and around the restaurant Las Dalias. Another atmospheric landmark is Bar Anita where locals claim to have seen Mick Jagger and Bob Marley perform impromptu concerts over the years. Renowned as a gathering point and informal post office for sixties free spirits and sun-worshippers (the 400 post boxes are today used mostly by owners of remote farms) do look out for the eclectic display of paintings left for sale by penniless patrons as credit towards their bar bills!
