A classic of its type, Campo Verde is a dazzling whitewashed Ibicencan farmhouse standing in generous lawned grounds on a gentle incline in the heart of Ibiza. Just 3km from the sleepy village of Santa Gertrudis, this gorgeous house enjoys a peaceful, pastoral outlook over extensive pinewoods and olive groves to the distant modest mountains; a beautiful view and typical of the island’s wonderfully scenic inland terrain.

With a garden that positively encourages relaxation it is likely the majority of your time will be spent outside at Campo Verde. And what an environment you have to hand. Edged with oleander, surrounded by neat lawns and overlooked by an assortment of crazy-paved open and covered terraces the larger than average private pool glitters invitingly and benefits from easy access via Roman steps spanning the width of the shallow end. To one side of the large front terrace a substantial covered pergola provides a marvellous spot in which to unwind with a cool drink and just absorb the view, your current favourite novel…or both!

Inside, thick, whitewashed walls and cooling terracotta floor tiles contribute to the simple, extremely effective décor to give a crisp and fresh ambience. Conveying an immediate sense of space the high ceiling of the entrance hall has is supported by solid glazed beams of locally sourced Sabena pine, a fundamental component in traditional Ibicencan construction, and evident throughout the house. From here an archway leads through to a most attractive split level living/dining room where the sunken seating area resembles a snug due to its feature secondary ceiling lined with bamboo and which was originally used as a perch for drying carob pods in the property’s former life.

Accessed from the hall are two double bedrooms and a ‘suite’ comprising a twin and separate single bedroom together (perhaps ideal for a family with a younger child). Off the first floor landing a terrace looks out to the garden, pool and rural view beyond while a further twin bedroom is located below a dramatic vaulted ceiling.

Fans of Asian cuisine have a well known open-air restaurant just 850m away from the house and another much-respected local restaurant specialising in fresh meat dishes within 2.5km. Nearby Santa Gertrudis offers a very good range of amenities including a couple of mini markets, several bars and various restaurants clustered around the main square which is flanked on one side by an interesting eighteenth Century church. Numerous sandy beaches can be reached within a 20 minute drive, the nearest just 9km away at Santa Eulália and it is the same distance to the bright lights, boutiques, fine dining and lively waterfront at vibrant Ibiza Town.
