Built into the hillside midway between sea and mountain, this wonderful stone Mas enjoys outstanding views from its secluded grounds and has been lovingly restored in keeping with its typical Provençal exterior.

A noticeable marriage of contemporary furnishings and traditional décor extends throughout the interior, accentuated by plentiful natural light through the south-facing French windows. In the living area, a wrought iron dining set is flanked by an elegant grandfather clock and solid wooden furniture, echoing the dark wood of the beams in the high ceiling. Through the open archway in the dividing wall, a leather corner sofa provides comfortable seating in an arc around a large feature fireplace. A painted porcelain hand basin dating back to 1854 is one of many other eye-catching features adding authenticity and character to the property.

Whilst helping to maintain a cool temperature inside, there is also an inherent warmth of colour in the exposed stonework and terracotta floor tiling throughout, perfectly complemented by traditional touches such as earthenware pots and copper pans. Cosy bedrooms and local handcrafted tiles from Salernes in the bathrooms and kitchen further enhance the theme.

A spacious terrace extends the length of the house, with both shaded dining area and open terrace, and affording breathtaking panoramic views over miles of wooded hillside with a glimpse of Lake St Cassien in the west. The attractive tiered garden cascades from a manicured lawn garden beside the house down to the private pool terrace, where a canopy can be unrolled if shade is preferred.

For the more active, if the table tennis and fitness equipment on site are not enough, horse riding and tennis are available in the vicinity and there is a golf course just 6km away. There is a restaurant just 200m up the road and the small picturesque village centre is only half a kilometre away, offering local shops for essentials. Further amenities, restaurants and a supermarket can be reached by a short car journey, either in the pretty hilltop village of Cabris (3km) or towards the town of Grasse (7.5km). Known as the perfume capital of France, Grasse’s two main perfume houses Fragonard and Molinard both offer fascinating guided tours of their original premises and a variety of fragrant products are sold in many of the shops lining its cobbled streets. The beaches, marinas and chic boutiques of the Côte d’Azur are easily accessible about half an hour by car, the nearest resort being Mandelieu (20km), from where a scenic drive west along the beautiful Estérel coastline is highly recommended.

This is a non-smoking property.
Terraced grounds mean that young children would need supervision.
Access is via steep driveway not suitable for low slung vehicles.
