Entering through electric gates, a driveway leads down to a private parking area and covered car port. Sitting invitingly in front of the cottage the recently installed private pool is bordered by an abundance of colourful flowers, palms, shrubs and cacti with ancient olive and carob trees providing additional shaded areas by the pretty summer house. Two separate outdoor dining areas provide excellent space for enjoying meals al fresco during warm summer evenings.
Overlooking the pool a broad front terrace gives direct access into a compact, open plan living area adorned with attractive, varied pieces of furniture and an imposing fireplace with a 16th Century azulejo-tiled surround. The owner of ‘The Stables’ has assembled an interesting assortment of artwork including impressive abstract oil paintings in the bedrooms, an original Arraiolos tapestry in the living area, various other Portuguese decorative items and many English-language books.
A small, well equipped kitchen sits to one side of the living area, separated by a breakfast bar and with a door leading to an outdoor dining and barbecue terrace. A double bedroom with a king size bed, a bathroom and a second bedroom with a single bed and doors leading onto the terrace complete the accommodation.
Within walking distance are a mini-market, several cafes and a popular restaurant. Three large supermarkets, tennis courts and a gymnasium (hourly charges) are within a five minute drive. The six beaches of Carvoeiro and Ferragudo, some of the most iconic along the Algarve with pretty coves, golden sands and clear waters are just a few minutes further. For a fascinating day out, pay a visit to the old Algarvean capital of Silves (20km) where one can enjoy a walk along the river bank and a gentle wander through the old Moorish streets surrounding the imposing red stone castle.
Laundry service can be arranged with housekeeper (reasonable use is free of charge). The pool can be heated at a cost of €150 per week (minimum 24hrs notice to be fully effective) paid directly to the housekeeper.
