Florence\u2019s Firenze Tango Festival 2011 promises to be one of the most authentic Tango festivals Europe has to offer.<\/p>\n

Tango, like its history, is full of unexpected moves and twists. Unlike any other genres of dance it combines the rhythms of Spanish, African and Cuban music.<\/p>\n

Since it was developed in the slums of Buenos Aires in the 1800s, tango gradually moved to Europe, where, at the beginning of the 1900s, it became a popular form of dance in France, Spain and Italy.<\/p>\n

The Italians have never ceased their passion and commitment towards tango. The beauty of its unique combination of gliding moves, interrupted by almost violent steps, has continued with vigour and passion in many Italian towns, cities and villages.<\/p>\n

Being the capital and most populous city of Tuscany, it is only natural that Florence is home to a multitude of colourful, fiery and flamboyant festivals each year. Theatre and dance usually play a prominent part in many of Florence\u2019s more artistic festivals and none more so than the annual Firenze Tango Festival<\/strong>, dedicated entirely to this passionate form of dance.<\/p>\n

From April 28th 2011 \u2013 May 1st 2011, Florence will emerge as the tango capital of the world, devoted entirely to four days and four nights of top-tip tangoing. 30 international artists and tango dancers from all over the globe will arrive in Florence and put on show-stopping performances to the delight of a thrilled and mesmerized audience.<\/p>\n

Along the grand Arno River to the east of Florence\u2019s historical quarter the Saschall Theatre can be found, the main venue of the Firenze Festival.<\/p>\n

Throughout the four days, the 2500 square metre theatre, with its superb sound system and high quality lighting, puts on a splendid tango bonanza, with orchestras, tango shows, workshops, free tango classes, art exhibitions, dinners providing high-class Italian cuisine and wine, as well as afternoon milonga and a huge exposition of clothes and shoes related to this popular method of dance.<\/p>\n

Each year the Firenze Tango Festival has special guests from the world of Tango attending to showcase their tangoing talents to spectators. This year\u2019s special guests will include the sensational Tango dancer, Natalia Lavandeira, as well as the equally as talented Roberto Reis.<\/p>\n

Almost a dozen experienced and talented tango teachers will be attending the festival giving workshops and free dance classes to people of all ages and abilities.<\/p>\n
