Mallorca looks set to be thriving with tourists this summer, as many of the big tour operators are booking more hotel rooms ahead of the predicted surge in visitors.<\/p>\n

Holiday sales to German and British tourists to the beautiful Balearic island have increased by 20 percent, with more than 650,000 German tourists and 120,000 visitors from the UK expected to travel to Mallorca this summer.<\/p>\n

After a difficult winter, which saw the number of visitors arriving at Palma Airport in decline, Thomas Cook has announced it has increased reservations to Mallorca this summer by as much as 30 percent, and budget airline Jet2.com has also considerably increased availability to Palma Airport.<\/p>\n

The significant rise in the number of reservations made to Mallorca this summer, has been pinned on to the recent riots in Egypt, although the island\u2019s exceptionally mild winter this year is also believed to have caused significant rise in flight and hotel bookings to the island.<\/p>\n

Despite the inevitable dips and fluctuations in the amount tourists visiting any given holiday destination, since the 1950s, the dawn of mass tourism to Spain, Mallorca grow into one of Spain\u2019s top tourist destinations, which subsequently attracted many workers from mainland Spain to the island\u2019s capital Palma.<\/p>\n

Being one of Spain\u2019s tourism \u2018hot spots\u2019, more than one half of the population of Mallorca works in the tourism industry, which accounts for approximately 80% of the island\u2019s GDP.<\/p>\n

Given its prolific and thriving tourism industry, it is hardly surprising that this stunning island, whose perimeter is dominated by fine white sandy beaches, caves and rocky coves and whose interior is carpeted with over four million almond and olive trees, boasts more than 2,400 restaurants and bars – thus leaving tourists with the arduous decision of which restaurant to eat in.<\/p>\n
