Corfu and Kefalonia are two of the most popular of the Ionian Islands, both famed for stunning natural beauty, fantastic climate and friendly and welcoming hospitality.<\/p>\n

\"Ionian<\/a><\/p>\n

Kefalonia is the largest of the seven Ionian Islands with an area of almost 800 square-kilometres. Being a mountainous island, much of Kefalonia\u2019s landscape is dominated by peaks rising into the air and dramatically plunging into dense and foreboding forests. The highest mountain on Kefalonia is Mount Ainos, which reaches an altitude of 1628 metres.<\/p>\n

Kefalonia is a family-orientated island, with beach upon beach of soft sand and beautiful bays ideal for swimming, snorkelling and paddling, but at the same time is a haven for hikers and nature enthusiasts, with its maze of mountain trails.<\/p>\n

Corfu is the second largest Ionian Islands and includes a small scattering of islands that form the edge of the north-western frontier of Greece. Being laden with a history of enthralling battles and conquests, Corfu boasts a fascinating and tumultuous past and is very much connected with to the history of Greece and the beginning of Greek mythology. In 2007, Corfu Town\u2019s old city was designed for the UNESCO World Heritage List. Given the island\u2019s absorbing history and naturally stunning landscape, since the early 20th<\/sup> century when it was visited by many European royals and elites, Corfu has remained a popular tourist destination.<\/p>\n

As both islands possess many captivating charms, such as impressive architecture, ancient sites of historical interest, picturesque villages perched upon mountains laced in an emerald carpet of pine trees, holidaymakers are often left with the arduous decision of choosing whether to book a holiday on Corfu or on Kefalonia.<\/p>\n

Ionian\u00a0Island hopping from Athens to Corfu and then to Kefalonia is becoming increasingly popular, with more and more tour companies providing island hopping between these two Ionian Islands.<\/p>\n

To \u2018hop\u2019 between these two favourite Ionian Islands, Olympic Airways operated three times a week for Kefalonia to Corfu. The air-sea plane also has flights between Kefalonia and Corfu, as well as a service to Patras, where an onward ferry service is available.<\/p>\n
