Croatia is a relatively new country to the mainstream tourist map due to the outbreak of the Balkans war almost two decades ago. It\u2019s an absolutely stunning location rich with culture, history, attractions and pleasant people.<\/p>\n

The Roman Amphitheatre, Pula<\/span><\/h3>\n

You absolutely must see this marvel of history if you decide to head to Istria. It\u2019s an incredibly well preserved Roman Amphitheatre that was constructed in 27 BC – 68 AD and among the six largest surviving Roman arenas in the World.<\/p>\n

It contains 2 and three stories and is surrounded by walls almost 30 feet tall. It would have contained 23,000 spectators and showcased gladiators and beasts fighting to the death.<\/p>\n

You can walk within the original structure as well as all the way around it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Port of Rovinj, Rovinj<\/span><\/h3>\n

Rovinj is a relatively small town with a population of around 14,000. It is considered one of the most beautiful destinations on the Adriatic, and once you get there it\u2019s clear why!<\/p>\n

The best thing to do when you get to Rovinj is to take a walk around the old town breaking for a spot of lunch at one of the many cafes, being sure to try out some local delicacies!<\/p>\n

It is relatively popular with tourists but unspoilt in its vibe, settings and scenery. Keep a close eye out for the stunning Baroque monuments and churches.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pentagonal Tower, Porec<\/span><\/h3>\n

Built in 1447 by Niccolo Lion as a defense tower for the city walls of Porec, the tower is definitely worth a peek if you are in the area. It is the last remaining piece of the city walls which were dismantled at the very beginning of the 19th<\/sup> by Napoleon.<\/p>\n

Look up high when you get there and see if you can spot the winged lion is engraved in the front wall.\u00a0<\/p>\n
