Whilst the crowds of tourists may have been considerably diluted, this does not stop the Mallorcan\u2019s insatiable thirst to celebrate and party to be ended.<\/p>\n<p>On the contrary, this charismatic Spanish island is home to several festivals throughout October and if you are lucky enough to be heading off to Mallorca this autumn, take a look at three fondly traditional yet highly atmospheric festivals being held on Mallorca throughout October 2012.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dia de la Hispanidad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>October 12 2012<\/p>\n<p>The 12<sup>th<\/sup> October is a national public holiday in Spain to commemorate Christopher Columbus\u2019 discovery of the New World. To mark this prominent historical date in Spanish history, Mallorca celebrates in style with parades, fireworks, eating, dancing and merriment occurring in many of the larger cities and towns throughout the island.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Festa de Virgin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>October 21 2012<\/p>\n<p>The Festa de Virgin takes place in the town of Palma, when locals and visitors alike cannot fail to be wrapped up in the many cake eating activities, singing, dancing and general buffoonery.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Festa dies Bufitfarro<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The third Sunday in October<\/p>\n<p>Taking place in vibrant town of Sant Joan, Mallorca\u2019s third biggest town, is the Festa dies Butifarro.
