With hills, peaks and mountains thrusting into the air almost everywhere you turn in the Dordogne, the area could certainly be described as a hiker\u2019s or mountaineer\u2019s haven.<\/p>\n

If you are heading to the Dordogne to take advantage of its stunning hilly landscape, then take a look at one of the most prominent peaks in the Dordogne that should certainly not be void any summit accomplisher\u2019s itinerary!<\/p>\n

Le Puy du Sancy<\/strong><\/p>\n

With wisps of cloud teasingly caressing the highest peak of the Massif du Sancy, which overlooks the emerald rapture of the Dordogne Valley, standing on top of the Massif du Sancy really is a pleasure never to be forgotten.<\/p>\n

Walkers climbing Le Puy de Sancy typically leave their car at the end of the valley at the unpretentious and seemingly void from the changes of time village of Le Monte-Dore, which is the last town in the Dordogne valley.<\/p>\n

From Le Monte-Dore you can either cheat and get a cable car to the summit, or walk, with the latter being undoubtedly the more invigorating of the two!<\/p>\n

The path to the summit Le Puy de Sancy, whilst steep in places, is a fairly easy climb but is irrevocably slowed down by the almost unavoidable urge to stop walking, breath in the pollution-free air and marvel at the panoramic view.<\/p>\n

We would recommended packing a camera in the rucksack before standing at an altitude of 1886 metres, with the of the whole of the Dordogne valley and the Massif Central below, it really does warrant a prolific picture-perfect opportunity.<\/p>\n
