Spanish Christmas Cheer – It\u2019s festivals galore on Mallorca this December!\u00a0Whilst you can never quite guarantee the weather, it\u2019s safe to surmise that the December weather on Mallorca is going to be considerably better than in the UK. Of course, sunny, blue skies and warm breezes flowing in from the Mediterranean isn\u2019t enough to make you book a flight to the popular Balearic Island, is it?<\/p>\n

Although when you put Mallorca\u2019s enviable year-round weather, which sees temperatures regularly hitting 16 or 16 degrees Celsius in December, together with the island\u2019s extremely colourful events calendar, distant thoughts about jetting off into Spanish utopia to treat yourself to some winter some, may become a reality.<\/p>\n

If we\u2019ve still not managed to convince you to jump on a plane, perhaps being informed about the following December events in\u00a0Mallorca\u00a0may be just enough persuade you.<\/p>\n

Palma\u2019s Christmas markets<\/strong><\/p>\n

From the first weekend in December, a plethora of markets are set up on Palma\u2019s many quant and charming streets and squares. These traditional market stalls sell everything from unusual Christmas handmade crafts and figurines to fluffy Christmas gloves and scarves.<\/p>\n

Head to Palma\u2019s main square the Plaza Mayor and you\u2019ll be greeted by a particularly Christmassy affair. With bright and interesting Christmas decorations being sold in abundance, you could buy all your festive decorations to deck out your home with come Spanish Christmas cheer for a snippet of a cost. Hey, you may even see Father Christmas himself musing amongst the stalls!<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

Partridge and Agricultural Fair, Montuiri<\/strong><\/p>\n

If partridge is your type of game and you enjoy a old good agricultural knees up, be sure to head to the town of Montuiri during the first weekend in December.<\/p>\n

Diverging from Mallorca\u2019s traditional agricultural activities, Montuiri became heavily involved in the quail farming industry and is now widely considered as Mallorca\u2019s leading town for game shooting. Henceforth the \u2018Fira de la Perdiu\u2019 \u2013 Partridge Fair \u2013 was launched.<\/p>\n

Sing the Sibil-la on Christmas Eve<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you are determined to experience something quite unique this December then submerge yourself into a Mallorcan church on Christmas Eve to witness the Sibil-la being sung before Midnight Mass. This traditional song has been sung almost uninterruptedly on Mallorca since medieval times.<\/p>\n

In 2010 UNESCO declared the Sibil-la as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity \u2013 A UNESCO song, now there\u2019s a novelty!<\/p>\n
