Part of Girona\u2019s charm is that, compared to the likes of Barcelona and Madrid,\u00a0it is much smaller in size, much easier to orientate yourself and navigate around and has a refreshingly less amount of crowds.<\/p>\n

Casas de l\u2019Onyar<\/strong><\/p>\n

One characteristic of Girona that makes it stand out in stunning architectural beauty is the hordes of casas de l\u2019Onyar, houses that literally hang over the River Onyar. This distinctive feature of Girona is a popular aspect of the city to be photographed. These picturesque houses have been built over the centuries provide a captivating dwelling for locals and visitors alike.<\/p>\n

Placa de la Independencia<\/strong><\/p>\n

A trip to Girona would not be complete without visiting the magnificent Placa de la Independencia. Situated in the Mercadal district of the city, this spirited square is also known as the Placa de San Agustin.<\/p>\n

This pretty square is always a hive of activity and is a popular place for tourists to gather and take photos of the neoclassical buildings that surround the square that boast porches dedicated to those who defended Girona during the sieges in the early 1800s.<\/p>\n

Sant Feliu<\/strong><\/p>\n

No photo album of Girona would be complete without featuring the remarkable Collegiate Church of Sant Feliu. With a style that corresponds to 14th<\/sup> century Gothic architecture and a fa\u00e7ade dating from the 1700s, Sant Feliu is one of the only churches in the whole of Spain that features a genuine spire.<\/p>\n

Beside the church is a chapel dedicated to St. Narcissus, a preacher who lived in Girona during some time in the third century and preached as far away as Germany – Definitely one for the album!<\/p>\n
