After half a century the Algarve is still attracting tourists.\u00a0Perhaps it\u2019s the year-round mild temperatures and over 300 days of sunshine? Perhaps it\u2019s the long golden beaches being lapped with lucid water?<\/p>\n

Or perhaps it\u2019s the riverside towns of villages full of friendly locals, atmospheric restaurants and stunning architecture, which has meant that for more than half a century the Algarve has remained a top travel destination for Britons.<\/p>\n

It was during the 1960s when the Algarve started to become a popular place for a large number of Britons to spend their annual holiday. Since this time, this stunning stretch of southern Portugal has risen in popularity amongst British holidaymakers. During the peak tourist season in the summer, the regional population of the Algarve increases to an average of approximately seven million and nearly always makes it onto the top rankings of lists of the most heavily visited holiday destinations for British tourists.<\/p>\n
