Take the stunning Croatian region of Istria, for example. There are some superb walks in Istria, and even if you only do part of the routes by foot you will come away from your trip with a much greater feeling for the country than if you had travelled solely by car.<\/p>\n

How can you smell the meadows or even see them for that matter when you are stuck on the tarmac with only diesel fuel fumes for company?<\/p>\n

Vladimir (Vlado) Benas, is a tour operator in the delightful Istrian seaside town of Moscenicka Draga. This affable tour operator is a real \u201chands on\u201d type of fellow and it was Vlado himself who devised (and sometimes guides) a lovely walking route from Motovun to Moscenicka Draga. The route goes through the pleasantly traditional villages of Sovinjak, Hum and Roc, as well as crossing over the mighty Mount Ucka – Even the names of these places evoke feelings of fairytales!<\/p>\n

The route devised by Vlado is a five-day hike, stopping off at various charismatic and time-honoured inns along the way, although there is no reason why you shouldn\u2019t join in the route wherever you like.<\/p>\n

Vlado\u2019s five-day walk that takes hikers over the most scenic and diverse of landscapes and terrains, has received some exceptionally complimentary feedback from walkers that have already accomplished the walk.<\/p>\n

This is an exceptionally unspoilt part of the world and walks in Istria like this, or even only part of it, gives one a real close up perspective of life in this idyllic corner of Croatia. The idea is to leave the motor car parked up for at least one day, get on your hiking shoes and get walking.<\/p>\n
