The town of Redon in Brittany is the place to head to if you want fancy a bit of \u00a0canal boating in Brittany\u00a0and see this beautiful region of France from a completely different perspective.<\/p>\n

You can actually tie up the boat below the ramparts of the magnificent castle at Josselin and try and imagine how difficult it would be to have attacked this well-fortified position.<\/p>\n

From Redon you can take off in all directions and this active Breton town is very much the hub of the sailing wheel and the canals that branch away are the spokes. Whether you desire a simple day-long out and return trip or a full weekend and more, Redon is certainly the place to start your canal boating experience in Brittany.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not only the canals around Redon that the boats float on. Rivers are connected with the canals throughout much of Brittany and France in general, all offering slightly different challenges. There is a 21-hour out and return trip, which visits the town of Josselin and its almighty castle. In fact this trip is a great introduction to the world of boating and may well leave the drooling inland sailor looking forward to the next boating quest on the horizon!<\/p>\n

Discovering the enchanting province of Brittany, home of the mythic Merlin by boat is guaranteed to be a memorable experience. To the west of the province lies the Atlantic, northwest takes you towards Josselin, Pontivy and Lorient, northwards to La Gacilly and the northeast towards Rennes, a true Breton gem in every direction. Whilst taking a southerly course puts you on a heading with Nantes and the mighty Loire River.<\/p>\n

Several barge and boat hire companies base themselves at Redon, such as Cris\u2019 Boat France (CBF) and Boat Rentals France, both of these companies offer several different choices of boats and trip durations.<\/p>\n

What a fantastic way to spend a day out or even possibly a mini-weekend during a holiday in Brittany. To witness a country from a river or canal has to be a superior experience than seeing it from a road or highway.<\/p>\n
