It\u2019s been cited as being \u2018Heaven on Earth\u2019, no it\u2019s not a white sandy beach lined by palm trees on the Caribbean, it\u2019s the stunning sheltered horseshoe bay at Puerto Pollensa on the island of Mallorca.<\/p>\n

\"Puerto<\/a><\/p>\n

Asides its shielded and unusual shape, what makes Puerto Pollensa especially special is its milieu \u2013 the mighty Tramuntana mountain range. Pine groves extend from the mountains and run along the beach, providing some welcoming shade from the blazing Mallorcan sun and creating a fragrant aroma to drift across the beach.<\/p>\n

Originally a fishing village, this seaside town maintains a traditional feel, with an atmospheric marina and a quaint town square. There is an extremely relaxed and laid-back vibe about Puerto Pollensa that certainly contributes to it being one of Mallorca\u2019s favourite serene and idyllic tourist hotspots.<\/p>\n

Given the popularity of this seaside town, plans to make the beach-front road semi-pedestrian have been awarded with additional funding. The\u00a0Puerto Pollensa Promenade is to get a 1.2 million euro makeover.<\/p>\n

The project will include several new features, such as a cycle lane, meaning that cyclists will be able to lap up the extraordinary views of the horseshoe bay from the comfort of their own lane! A single lane will be kept for traffic and there will be a parking area located on the other side of the beach, making parking in the town more convenient.<\/p>\n

The Pollensa town hall is working in collaboration with a local architect and this joint alliance will be responsible for the design of the ambitious promenade project. The town hall has also announced that the total budget for the project will be 1.2 million Euros, half of which will be covered by the regional tourism ministry.<\/p>\n

With its many waterfront restaurants and cafes, a myriad of luxury yachts bobbing up and down in the marina and its famous Pine Walk that meanders walkers through a maze of fragrant pine trees along the beach and up into the mountains, it\u2019s not difficult to understand why Puerto Pollensa is considered one of Mallorca\u2019s most special hotspots.<\/p>\n

And with a 1.2 million euro project being pumped into the town\u2019s makeup, it certainly seems that Mallorca is aiming to preserve one of its most cherished assets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
