Vejer de la Frontera in the Spanish province of Cadiz is a classic white-washed old Spanish pueblo, which is, by and large, missed by the tourist hordes. The reason for this traditional village\u2019s relative anonymity is because it is ten miles inland and therefore off the densely-travelled coastal route.<\/p>\n

\"Casa<\/a><\/p>\n

The long period of Moorish rule of Vejer de la Frontera resulted in an everlasting architectural stamp which is still evident in the pueblo today.<\/p>\n

Casa Luz is one such marvellous example of the Moor\u2019s rule in Spain evidenced in Spanish architecture and design. In fact possessing a similar quirky layout and colourful and flamboyant decor as a Moroccan riad you could easily be forgiven for thinking that you were in Morocco when inside this stunning Spanish townhouse.<\/p>\n

This stylish villa in Vejer de la Frontera is hidden down a narrow pedestrian walkway, Casa Luz enjoys a townhouse location. Being situated in the heart of the town means visitors are conveniently close to the quality bars, restaurants and shops this lively pueblo is home to. Casa Luz is a stylish and chic house which can sleep up to eight people in the four double bedrooms, all of which are on the first floor. Graceful archways, cool marble floors and ornate furnishings compel visitors to walk round and explore this truly unique house. Whilst three of the bedrooms are en-suite, a further shower room can be found in the internal courtyard near the property\u2019s ornate and utterly delightful plunge pool. This charismatic courtyard is lined with arched glass, a clever design trait which gives the illusion that the courtyard is incorporated into the living area<\/p>\n

It is however the second floor where most of the holiday socialising and partying will no doubt take place. From here you are able to access the roof terrace. As Casa Luz is positioned not far from the town\u2019s zenith in the oldest part of the village, the roof terrace provides a bird\u2019s eye view, which as you can imagine is simply stunning. As the setting sun casts and warm orange glow on this dazzling whitewashed town and the citrus tree groves that surround it, you really get the feeling you are not far from Morocco and a completely different culture. The terrace\u2019s built-in barbecue provides the perfect source for eating, drinking and merriment from this enviable position.<\/p>\n

You could spend days exploring the historical town of Vejer de la Frontera which is home to many ancient buildings, including an old church built upon the site of an even older mosque. There are old Moorish castle walls which were constructed to protect the invaders from marauding Christians. The main square is a delight with its fountain containing four Andalucian frogs, each of which spurt out water.<\/p>\n

In short, Casa Luz would be a great place to spend a holiday. When you\u2019ve finished exploring Vejer de la Frontera, not to mention the house, there are many other fantastic places to discover a short drive away. Tarifa the surfer\u2019s paradise, the historic old city of Cadiz, or a day trip to Tangiers are just a few potential days out. At least after spending some time in Casa Luz you won’t be in for such a culture shock awaiting you in Tangiers!<\/p>\n
