Known throughout the world as being a fabled artist’s haven, surrounded by sweeping vineyards and rolling hillsides, the village of St Paul de Vence and its milieu could possibly epitomise the word picturesque. It is in this enviably beautiful part of the world where you can find Le Clos St Paul, a three bedroom, two bathroom country house, situated in the most sublime of spots.<\/p>\n

\"le<\/a><\/p>\n

Le Clos St Paul has been newly built to blend in seamlessly with the older traditional French farmhouses of the area. It is only when you step into the ultra-modern interior that you realise that this house is a new build. The whole area is opulent and chic.<\/p>\n

Former Rolling Stone Bill Wyman has a house just up the road and he is just one of a long list of famous names who have made a home around St Paul de Vence. French screen actors have frequented the village, including Yves Montand, Simone Signoret, as well as the poet Jacques Prevert.<\/p>\n

British actor Donald Pleasence died here whilst convalescing from heart surgery. It is certainly not difficult to see why the stars flock here\u00a0 –\u00a0 magnificently medieval, postcard picturesque and at the same time close to the unrivalled glamour of the French Riviera.<\/p>\n

You can see the not too distant Mediterranean from atop of the village, framed by a backdrop of the\u00a0 rolling green countryside of Provence, scattered intermittently with old whitewashed villages. Yes it is no wonder artists and celebrities alike congregate in St Paul de Vence.<\/p>\n

The Russian-born artist Marc Chagall lived and painted here and there are several\u00a0 highly acclaimed art galleries and museums around the village. Chagall is buried in the St Paul de Vence cemetery.<\/p>\n

Le Clos St Paul is so typical of houses in the region that you couldn’t envisage it being placed in any other part of the world. As much as a chalet belongs near the ski slopes of the Alps or as a thatched cottage belongs to Devon, Le Clos St Paul fits as neatly into the French countryside as the vineyards do which run alongside the house.<\/p>\n

The house’s large pool with ample terracing around the periphery provides the perfect place to\u00a0 sunbath and relax and take in the natural splendour of this beautiful part of the world. The extensive lawn is large enough to have a game of boule or badminton. They say that green is the most relaxing colour and you certainly won’t be be starved of the tranquil shade at your stay at Le Clos St Paul, with dense trees and shrubs smothering the undulating hills as far as the eye can see.<\/p>\n

Despite the house’s timeless and seamless way of melting into the French countryside, the inside of the property is refreshingly ultra-modern. Each room is beautifully minimalistic, leaving the visitor with plenty of uncluttered space. The neutral colour scheme, highly polished tiles, contemporary furniture and the wooden floors, unite with simply divine results.<\/p>\n

A barbecue and a stylishly covered outside dining area invite guests to eat outdoors in the summer months. Although with the ultra-chic village of St Paul de Vence and\u00a0 Tourrettes-sur-Loup being just\u00a0 3 km up the road, where many great bars and restaurants await you, you could be forgiven for wanting to eat out on your holiday at Le Clos St Paul.<\/p>\n
