The 370,000 year old Lake Bolsena<\/strong>\u00a0is in fact a crater lake with a volcanic history. The Romans documented volcanic activity back in 104 BC, however since then it has remained dormant. The lake is in fact Italy\u2019s fifth largest and has become incredibly popular for water sports enthusiasts, swimmers… and anyone wishing to explore central Italy!<\/p>\n

The water is crystal clear, teeming with fish and surrounded by some fine volcanic sandy beaches (that don\u2019t get overcrowded) making it the perfect get away in central Italy.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re looking for a Lake holiday in Italy with unspoilt views over one of Italy\u2019s finest lakes, Lake Bolsena, then you have to check out La Gioia<\/a> villa. It sleeps 6 in three bedrooms and has been designed to take in the magnificent view on offer.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a short 1km stroll to the \u2018centro storico\u2019 (historic town centre) of Bolsena and here you\u2019ll find a fabulous selection of cafes and restaurants to choose from. You simply have to visit the Lake if you stay here where you\u2019ll find sailing, kayaking, fishing and boat trips. If you want a scenic drive then we suggest you go past Montefiascone and Capodimonte.<\/p>\n
