Casa Zahora is a splendid modern villa in a beautiful part of southern Spain. The nearby coastline, known as Costa de la Luz, is as historical as it is wild and unspoilt. Just over 200 years ago the famed Battle of Trafalgar took place in the sea off\u00a0 the tiny peninsula known as Cape Trafalgar.<\/p>\n

\"Casa<\/a><\/p>\n

Horatio Nelson, leading the English fleet, locked horns with the biggest warships on earth and heavily outnumbered a combined force of\u00a0 French and Spanish ships. Lord Nelson’s heroic deeds took place very close to Casa Zahora and if you listen closely, you may even hear his name whispered on the Atlantic breeze.<\/p>\n

Zahora is a trendy yet unspoilt village perched on top of the cliffs above the coast road.\u00a0 There are wonderful beach side bars and restaurants close to this characterful village. Much of the village’s ‘trendiness’ stems from the fact it is becoming increasingly popular with the surfing community. From this privileged Atlantic spot there are superb views of Cape Trafalgar. With the many brightly coloured wind surfers and kite sailors, it’s hard to imagine 209 years ago hundreds of canons were blasting in a confused\u00a0 mass of splintering wood, gunpowder, smoke and blood.<\/p>\n

Casa Zahora is a classic Spanish family villa which comfortably sleeps eight people in four spacious bedrooms. Whilst primarily modern, snippets of rustic d\u00e9cor run through the house such as the wooden beamed ceilings in several of the rooms. The ceramic terracotta floor tiles also add an authentic Spanish touch to this tasteful villa.<\/p>\n

The sleek and modern kitchen has everything you’ll need to cook with, amid an uplifting subtle colour scheme. The centrepiece in the huge open plan lounge\/dining room is a wood burning stove, perfect for taking the chill from those out of season evenings. A magnificently designed open tread iron staircase is another stunning interior feature of Casa Zahora. At the top of this rustic staircase is an open gallery, another quirky feature which augments the villa’s individual style as well as generating more room.<\/p>\n

French doors lead outside to the covered terrace and dining area, which in high season is likely to be where most of the dining takes place. The pool is unusually rounded and it is set in a well stocked garden comprising of a luscious lawn, gnarled olive trees and exotic palms.<\/p>\n

There is so much to see and do along Andalucia’s Costa de la Luz. For a real culturally-enlightening experience, why not take a day trip to Morocco? Although with golden sandy beach at Zahora being less than two kilometres away from Casa Zahora, you’d be forgiven for wanting to stay closer to home.<\/p>\n
