Ville de Teguise is the historic one-time capital of the island and its charming old cobbled streets are a must-see for those who find themselves nearby. Every Sunday a huge market takes place in the ancient and interesting town and is undoubtedly a good time to visit.

Down at the seafront Costa Teguise water sports are extremely popular. There is a relaxed and friendly diving school in Costa Teguise called Daivoon. The staff are dedicated divers and run courses for the full spectrum of diving abilities.

As Lanzarote is a volcanic island it is surrounded by interesting underwater rock formations comprising of caves, canyons and tunnels. The sea temperature is also perfect for year-round diving. Every Easter Monday the diving school holds a ‘Diving for Easter Eggs’ contest, which reflects the fun-loving nature of Daivoon’s directors. Even the most nervous of divers can’t seem to resist following the Easter bunny into the water. No pebble is left unturned or underwater crevice untouched as divers frantically search for the illusive Easter eggs. Despite its fun outlook, diving is a serious business and at Daivoom, clients’ personal safety is paramount.

A ‘Try Dive’ taster course is a good way to find out whether or not this fascinating sport is for you. You end the taster course with a photo CD of yourself in underwater action. If you manage to progress with your diving it is possible to visit the wreck of Temple Hall London, which met its end on Lanzarote rocks some 30 years ago.

For further information on ‘Diving for Easter Eggs’ and Daivoon’s other courses visit the website.

Costa Teguise is a purpose-built tourist town on the Eastern side of Lanzarote.
