Definitely worth a visit if you like French antiques.<\/p>\n<h2>June:<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>Aix en Provence Festival<\/strong> is the highlight in Aix&#8217;s annual calendar of events. It starts in June and runs through to mid-July. The festival attracts the best in classical music and opera, with concerts held in historic buildings throughout the city. Have to experience this to believe it!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Musique dans la Rue<\/strong> is a series of free concerts (classical to pop) that takes place mid-June and is held through the centre of Aix en Provence.<\/p>\n<h2>July:<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>Alpes Retro Antique Car Show<\/strong> is a coming together of some of the finest automobiles in the World. They tour the streets of Aix for hours.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t miss the <strong>Baroque Music Festival<\/strong> which is performed by the Ensemble of the Festes d&#8217;Orph\u00e9e, with choir, vocal and instrumental soloist performances.<\/p>\n<p>If opera, theatre and classical music is your thing then the <strong>Nuit d&#8217;Ete a Aix en Provence<\/strong> held at the Cloitre des Oblats in the centre of Aix is well worth a visit. The program runs for a month.<\/p>\n<p>Held on the last Sunday in July on the Cours Mirabeau the <strong>Fair of the Vineyards of Aix<\/strong> is a good opportunity to taste and purchase wines of the region.<\/p>\n<h2>August:<\/h2>\n<p>August see the coming together of classical and modern dance companies from all over the world to perform at the <strong>Festival Internationale de Danse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>September:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>F\u00eate Mistralienne<\/strong> is a show of dancers who parade through Aix before gathering around the statue of Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Mistral in the Parc Jourdan to pay homage to this local poet who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1904.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to check out the <strong>5e Festival de la Chanson Francaise<\/strong> which is a series of concerts by French musicians held in venues throughout Aix.<\/p>\n<h2>October:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Les Nuits Pianistiques<\/strong> is a series of piano recitals, chamber music and soloist performances that take place between October to December<\/p>\n<h2>November:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Le Festival Image de Ville<\/strong> is a festival of architecture and urban film. Screenings are shown in a variety of venues in Aix en Provence.<\/p>\n<h2>December:<\/h2>\n<p>Check out the <strong>New Oil and Truffle Fair<\/strong> held in the Place Jeanne d&#8217;Arc. The market\/festival celebrates the first pressing of the olives harvested during the year.
