Take in the breath-taking views from the Puente Nuevo<\/strong><\/p>\n

The word \u2018breath-taking\u2019 has a tendency to be a little overused in travel writing. However, taking in the unforgettable views that lie beneath the Puente Nuevo \u2013 New Bridge – overlooking the dramatic El Tajo gorge, could possibly be a poignant definition of the word \u2018breath-taking\u2019.<\/p>\n

The Puente Nuevo was built in 1793. Connecting the new parts of the town with the Moorish old town, the Puento Nuevo is deservedly Ronda\u2019s most famous landmark.<\/p>\n

The City Gates and Walls <\/strong><\/p>\n

Due to its elevated and isolated position, over the centuries, Ronda has remained one of Spain\u2019s most indestructible towns. Asides its geographical situation, another reason Ronda was out of reach from enemy attacks is due to its great city gates and walls.<\/p>\n

These medieval gates and walls were built by the Moors in the Islamic era, which spanned almost 800 years from 712 until 1485. Today these great ancient constructions provide a compelling glimpse of Ronda\u2019s fascinating past to a time when Ronda was impervious from attack until the age of the cannon.<\/p>\n

Mirador de Aldehuela <\/strong><\/p>\n

Andalucia is awash with unforgettable miradors \u2013 viewpoints \u2013 and none more so than the Mirador de Aldehuela in Ronda.<\/p>\n

The mirador is named in honour of the famous Spanish architect Jose Martin de Aldehuela, who was also responsible for building the town\u2019s bullring, the Puente Nuevo, and finishing the cathedral in Malaga.<\/p>\n
