Take a look at three art galleries that must be explored by all art-lovers travelling to one of Croatia\u2019s most beautiful and interesting towns.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5498\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vintagetravel.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/shutterstock_103301681.jpg\" alt=\"Old Town Dubrovnik\" width=\"700\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vintagetravel.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/shutterstock_103301681.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.vintagetravel.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/shutterstock_103301681-375x249.jpg 375w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>Museum of Modern Art Dubrovnik<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Museum of Modern Art Dubrovnik is just a short walk from the city\u2019s Old Town. The gallery spans a vast four floors and nine rooms in what used to be the mansion of wealthy ship owner Bozo Banac. In 1948 the building was converted into a museum and exhibition venue.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At least one major exhibition is held at the Museum of Modern Art, usually in the summer, featuring the work of a leading Croatian or international artist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dubrovnik Art Gallery<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Looking out to sea in a beautifully renovated 1930s mansion, there could not be a more compelling home for the Dubrovnik Art Gallery. The gallery contains one of the nation\u2019s biggest and broadest art collections.<\/p>\n<p>The gallery also features notoriously bold and vibrant art exhibitions, comprising of some of the biggest names in art. In 2008, for example, the gallery hosted a Picasso Prints exhibition, and in 2010 it exhibited the Sculptures of Alberto Giacometti. Although the gallery\u2019s permanent collection, which includes the work of Vlaho Bukovac, a nineteenth century painter whose symbolist canvases have been described as defining Croatian art at the turn of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century, draws in the crowds all year round.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Homa Gallery<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Homa Gallery was founded by Jadranka Mihajlovic Munitlc, a renowned contemporary Croatian painter who was born in Dubrovnik. Munitlc is widely admired for her colourful and hypnotic canvases.<\/p>\n<p>The Homa Gallery is located in Dubrovnik\u2019s Old Town and is a respected hub for established local artists and a true delight for art enthusiasts meandering past during a stroll through the medieval streets of the Old Town.<\/p>\n<p>Much of Munitlc\u2019s work is centered on recreating Dubrovnik\u2019s wonderful landmarks, views and landscapes on canvas, including the harbour, the Cathedral, the old streets, Rector\u2019s Palace and the sea.<\/p>\n<p>Munitlc\u2019s work is accompanied by the artwork of other contemporary Croatian artists.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nestled beside the sea, the beautiful town of Dubrovnik is a paradisiacal hub for culture and art.
