The province of Cadiz in Southern Spain is brimming with traditional and characterful towns. From charming coastal towns dotted along the shore to picturesque villages perched upon hillsides that boast incredible views of the stunning Andaluc\u00eda countryside, Cadiz has something to offer for everyone.<\/p>\n

Rota is a coastal town in the province of Cadiz that is well worthy of a visit.<\/p>\n

Sports enthusiasts feel particularly at home here as the town offers sports facilities and tournaments all year round, including football, fishing, swimming, basketball, volleyball, athletics, and windsurfing, amongst others.<\/p>\n

Besides its lively sports scene, like most of Andaluc\u00eda, Rota is filled with great cultural events throughout the year.<\/p>\n

October can be a fabulous time to visit the province of Cadiz as the weather is usually significantly cooler than during high summer and the coastal towns are considerably quieter. It is also a great time to visit Rota when the Feria and Fiestas of the Virgin Rosario Coronada takes place.<\/p>\n

Dating from the 16th<\/sup> century, this annual festival is a colourful affair, with carnival parades, costumes, fireworks and plenty of music, dancing, eating and drinking engulfing Rota\u2019s streets.<\/p>\n

The festivities take place from 4 \u2013 7 October in honour of Rota\u2019s patron saint, the Virgin of the Rosario Coronada.<\/p>\n

The festival begins with the firing of rockets and the long-established tradition of ringing bells. One of the most eagerly awaited events of the festival is the parade of giants, which moves through the town, much to the delight of the children.<\/p>\n

The Cadiz province is a wonderfully diverse region of Spain that boasts an enviable mix of sea, history, culture and beautiful scenery.
