Being predominantly off the main tourist trail, Campanet has managed to avoid the development many of Mallorca\u2019s towns have undergone in recent years, which, for some, adds to its appeal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vintagetravel.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/shutterstock_135711599-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5693\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vintagetravel.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/shutterstock_135711599-1.jpg\" alt=\"Campnet\" width=\"700\" height=\"466\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vintagetravel.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/shutterstock_135711599-1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.vintagetravel.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/shutterstock_135711599-1-375x250.jpg 375w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Augmenting its charm further is the origin of Campanet\u2019s name, which derives from the Latin word \u2018Kapanat\u2019, meaning \u2018collection of huts\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Campanet\u2019s most famous sons are the writer and humanist Llorenc Riber i Campins, who was born and bred in the town, and the journalist and writer Miquel dels Sants Oliver, who was also raised in Campanet.<\/p>\n<p>Despite its relative anonymity there is quite a lot to do and see in the town of Campanet. Exploring the natural wonders of the Caves of Campanet where you\u2019ll witness rock formations that are more than two million years old is one top Campanet attraction.<\/p>\n<p>Sampling tasty Spanish tapas in the town\u2019s bars and restaurants is always a great pastime whilst in Spain! As is visiting the beach, especially one as appealing as the nearby beach at Formentor, which is blessed with soft white sand lapped by translucent water. Just a short drive will put you at Alcudia beach, where its gentle shelving that extends out to sea and a Blue Flag status makes it a great choice of beach for young families.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst shops are fairly limited in Campanet, the town holds a market each Tuesday where you can pick up local produce and quirky Mallorcan items.<\/p>\n<p>If you yearn for a quieter Mallorcan break then heading to the undeveloped town of Campanet will put you in the heart of undiscovered Mallorca.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Situated approximately 25 miles to the north of Palma and Son Sant Joan International Airport is Campanet, a considerably less-known town on the sun-drenched island of Mallorca.
