After a busy summer season, in the autumn Mallorca starts to relax and you can enjoy all it has to offer without the crowds and the intense heat. Mallorca is a wonderful island to explore all year round but especially during the October half term-break when it becomes almost the perfect family holiday destination.<\/p>\n

The Climate<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is great to see the sun but in mid-summer it can be somewhat oppressive and exhausting, especially for children. The Mallorcan climate is milder during the autumn but can still be wonderfully sunny and warm.<\/p>\n

The food<\/strong><\/p>\n

During this time of year, Mallorca\u2019s restaurants are much less crowded than during the summer meaning you can enjoy the island\u2019s delicious local cuisine at your leisure.<\/p>\n

Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are over twenty golf courses on the island of Mallorca, many of which are still open in October. There are also of course many great beaches to explore, where the sea temperature even in October is more than 20 degrees – ideal for the kids.<\/p>\n

There are plenty of long and short hiking trails across the island, many of which are suitable for children. Or why not take a trip to Coves de Arta or the Coves de Drac with its illuminated underground lake, which is considered one of the largest in the world.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Culture<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mallorca is awash with incredible cultural sites, such as ancient ruins dating back to 70 B.C. Stately homes give an insight into the island\u2019s past and numerous museums covering all aspects of the culture of Mallorca provide great family days out.<\/p>\n

A trip to the village of Deia would be another memorable day out. Nestled in the Tramuntana Mountains Deia is home to several art galleries. It is also the village which the English poet and novelist Robert Graves decided to make his home during the 1930s.<\/p>\n

With uncrowded beaches basking under the gentle Autumn sun, incredible local dishes being served in comparatively empty restaurants and friendly locals gathered on the streets, the October half-term can be an especially rewarding time to visit the island of Mallorca.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
