With its sandy beaches, upmarket marina, pretty waterfront promenade, picturesque old town and busy nightlife, it\u2019s not difficult to understand why the Algarve town of Albufeira is a popular tourist destination. Though the appeal of this coastal town isn\u2019t confined to the summer months. On the contrary, Albufeira attracts holidaymakers throughout the year and none more so than on New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n

Both Christmas and New Year\u2019s Eve are celebrated with passion and vibrancy throughout the Algarve. The larger cities and towns are particularly pulsating places to visit during the festive season. For example in Faro, artificial snow is laid about, guaranteed to get the children excited, who are unlikely to see any real snow in this sun-drenched stretch of southern Portugal!<\/p>\n

In Albufeira the shops, streets and promenades are draped in decorations. Even as early as mid-November mouth-watering cakes are decorated in a festive concoction of fruits and nuts and displayed in shop fronts.<\/p>\n

If you are spending the festive season in the Algarve and are looking for somewhere to head to for a memorable and lively New Year\u2019s Eve, then Albufeira would definitely make a good choice.<\/p>\n

As well as the town\u2019s many bars, cafes, restaurants and clubs putting on special New Year\u2019s Eve parties, menus and events, many of which go on well into the early hours, Albufeira is well-known for its open-air concert held at the Praia dos Pescadores \u2013 the Fisherman\u2019s Beach.<\/p>\n

Fisherman\u2019s Beach is located in front of Albufeira\u2019s pretty Old Town. Being still used by fisherman, the beach is straddled by a backdrop of quality seafood restaurants, serving fresh fish caught that day.<\/p>\n

Whilst Fisherman\u2019s Beach is a delight to visit all year round, with live bands, an incredible firework display and bars that stay open all night, it is hardly surprising that the beach attracts more than 50,000 people to its annual open-air New Year\u2019s Eve concert.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
