There are several natural outlets from which the water, having flowed down from the local mountains, surfaces in ancient wells. The chapel of Sant Miquel, which was built in the 13th century, is one of the oldest on the Island. It is very near to Campanet, and is the place to visit the ‘Fonts Ufanes’, springs for which the area is famous.

The main attraction of this village is its intrinsic beauty. It definitely has a specific charm of its own. It’s a pleasure to walk around its narrow, old, traditional streets and genuine island architecture. You can’t help but end up in the main square known as ‘Placa Major’, with its 18th century Baroque church of ‘The Immaculate Conception.’

Campanet hosts an agricultural fair in May and during the second week of July there is an eight-day festival in celebration of the Patron Saint of Sant Victoria.

The Caves of Campanet are near the village and although not as extensive as others on the island they are in a way more authentic. The cave has an eerie quality with its proliferation of waxy stalactites and stalagmites. You can have a guided tour, which is probably advisable as the cave is also home to a species of flesh eating beetle, mind you they are apparently blind, so you may be alright!

There are good places for hiking in this region of Mallorca. Cycling is also very popular on the island, and you are likely to witness large groups of cyclists, particularly in the winter months.

If you are looking for high-quality, self-catering accommodation on Mallorca, here’s two options you may want to consider.

Ca Na Xidoia

Ca Na Xidoia is a one-bedroom property that sleeps two guests and is just 1.3 kilometres from the beach.

Despite its countryside situation, this pretty villa is just 1.1km from all amenities, in the stunning town of Alcúdia, with its famous Roman walls.
