The museum is dedicated to the life and works of the iconic Russian\/French painter, Marc Chagall. Described as \u201cthe quintessential Jewish artist of the twentieth century\u201d, Chagall used the medium of stained glass to produce the windows for the cathedrals of Reims and Metz.<\/p>\n
The museum in Nice was constructed during the artist\u2019s lifetime, with the cooperation of Chagall himself, who was not only the creator of the artistic contents of the museum, but also installed the awe-inspiring mosaic and the stained glass which is present in the concert hall. Chagall also designed the layout of the museum\u2019s gardens and specified where he wanted each piece of artwork placing.<\/p>\n
The museum was finally inaugurated in 1973. Amongst its fascinating pieces of art is a series of seventeen paintings by Chagall which illustrate the biblical message. The paintings detail the first two chapters of the Bible, Genesis and Exodus, as well as Solomon\u2019s Song of Songs, a biblical mediation of spiritual and sexual love.<\/p>\n
Nice offers its visitors an exceptional collection of artwork. Asides the Mus\u00e9e Marc Chagall, the Museum d\u2019Histoire Naturelle, which celebrates the regional biodiversity of this part of France, the Mus\u00e9e Matisse, the Mus\u00e9e Mass\u00e9na, Mus\u00e9e National du Sport and the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019Archeologie de Nice, are just several of a large number of museums in this lively city that never fail to attract endless tourists through their doors all year round.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
