The Jolan Valley, known locally as the Vall de Pop, is home to some of the best scenery in Spain. This mountainous valley is doused in plains peppered with fragrant orange groves, gnarled olive trees, fertile vineyards and sweet-smelling almond trees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dotted amongst this verdant, flourishing landscape are a series of unspoilt villages, including Lliber, Jalon, Parcent and Alcalali. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beautiful Jalon Valley can be found inland in the\nprovince of Alicante not far from the coastal towns of Javea, Denia and\nMoraira. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jalon Valley is a walker\u2019s paradise, where a network of\ntrails and tracks, meander over the mountains, through the valleys and across\nthe plains, providing memorable walks for all abilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The village of Jalon is at the heart of the Jalon Valley.\nThe hub of this traditional village is an old square with a fountain. Every\nTuesday morning this charming square bursts into life when the weekly open\nmarket takes place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jalon\u2019s quaint streets are lined with an abundance of\nboutiques, bars and restaurants, the perfect place to wine, dine, shop and\nrecharge the batteries following a walk in the stunning valley. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parcent is another tranquil and traditional village.\nRenowned Spanish author Gabriel Miro described Parcent as a \u201cparadise between\nthe mountains\u201d and that little had changed there since he lived there in the\nmid-20th<\/sup> century. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the village is a parish church with a quirky\nbell tower. Next to the river in the town is a traditional communal washing\narea, where women still gather regularly to wash their laundry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

More unusual architecture can be found in the village of Alcalali, where a 16th-century tower is a home to a prison museum and a stunning lookout point over the beautiful Jalon Valley. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
