You may be surprised to learn that Le Marche has 180km of Adriatic coastline resulting in a decent variety of quality beaches to choose from.<\/p>\n

There are three types of beach in Le Marche:<\/h3>\n

  1. \n

    Bigger, livelier seaside towns with great party life, atmosphere, tourists and promenades.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n

    Smaller, less impressive beaches but offering a more privacy and frequented by locals<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n

    Rocky alcoves and limestone cliffs prime for exploring (head to Conero)<\/h4>\n

    The resorts and beaches typically have a very short season meaning that they are packed from mid-July to the third week of August and then thinning out dramatically after this… but beware that most places are pretty well closed up from mid-September through to mid-May.<\/p>\n

    If you are looking for the \u2018real Italian\u2019 beach experience head for the paying areas and get your sun umbrella and loungers (you need them to be honest). It\u2019s not expensive and you normally have all the facilities you could wish for all around you.<\/p>\n

    Le Marche is lucky enough to have one of the highest number of Blue Flag beaches of any region in Italy, and when you visit any of the 11 awarded beaches you won\u2019t fail to be impressed. The sand is golden and the sea is crystal… it\u2019s heaven.<\/p>\n

    The region’s eleven towns with Blue Flag beaches in 2006 are, from north to south, Gabicce Mare, Pesaro, Fano, Senigallia, Sirolo, Numana, Porto Recanati, Civitanova Marche, Porto San Giorgio, Grottammare, and San Benedetto del Tronto. But we warned these can get rather busy!<\/p>\n
