Tias is located between 2 very different, yet equally exciting places to visit. The Timanfaya Volcanic National Park, and the islands capital city, Arrecife.
The Timanfaya National Park covers a quarter of the island and the spectacular volcanic landscape was created over 6 years of near continuous volcanic eruptions that took place between 1730 and 1736. The park has been protected since 1973 and can only be visited with a guide as in some places the ground is still too hot to walk on due to underground lava!
Arrecife is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city full of culture and history and is an easy a 15 minute drive from Tias. For a day of shopping, sightseeing, eating and drinking and mingling with the locals, this is the place to go and with its own lovely beach of golden sand and tranquil water there’s not much this city doesn’t have to offer.
