Client Reviews for Quinta da Lua

The villa was fabulous and great location. In top two of those we have rented from you. Thoroughly recommend for families with older kids.

The villa and the owner were wonderful. Carlos really made our stay. We went for a meal with him and his local knowledge made our trip very relaxing.

A fantastic holiday – thank you! Quinta da Lua is a beautiful home and Carlos a very generous and considerate host. What a treat the pool has been – absolutely the best pool we have had. The views and gardens are lovely – unfortunately we are too early to taste the ‘Persimmon Fruit’ (which would have been a new experience) but the freshly squeezed orange juice every day has been incredible. We have been so relaxed we have not travelled far, but would recommend Braga – a coffee by the fountains and a trip to the cathedral is well worth doing. Bom Jesus is beautiful and memorable. We have had two lovely meals at Bom Retiro in town – the chocolate mousse is a winner! Thank you!

We have had such a lovely week – the villa is beyond what we imagined – so beautiful, the view from the balcony & pool difficult to tear ourselves away from. Carlos has been so kind and attentive, the smallest things prompting immediate action. We have had a day out in Ponte de Lima and then to the coast – on another trip would take/hire bikes at Ponte de Lima & cycle along the river there. I loved the coast – wild and windswept beaches. We all enjoyed a day’s canoeing at the reservoir – the canoes were a reasonable price to hire and the scenery beautiful and peaceful. Swimming in the lake was also lovely – we beached the canoes up the lake to get a quieter beach. Went to the Thursday morning market at Barcelos and were surprised at how big it was and the variety of produce – lots of chickens/rabbits etc and amazing patisserie which we picnicked on afterwards. Also had a day in Guimarães and loved the town with its cobbled streets and historical buildings. Although we had a couple of meals out – and it is relatively cheap to do so – we did enjoy eating at the villa, making use of the BBQ & local produce from the market / shops. Cannot finish without saying something about the oranges – so good. Fresh orange juice every morning and for me – an orange over – absolute paradise. Oh, and the woods behind the house – I really enjoyed early morning runs / walks there – never saw another person! All in all – a fantastic holiday. Thank you Carlos. P.S. We were also lucky with beautiful sunshine.

What a delightful villa. Carlos is charming and exceptionally welcoming. He is also a fountain of local knowledge. Our weather was slightly mixed which drove us to venture out to discover more of the region and local cuisine. We spent a fascinating day in Porto – and don’t miss the San Francisco church and catacombs. Had a great lunch of partridge and seabass in a little restaurant called Traça (brilliant). You must visit Bom Jesus, 3km east of Braga. Absolutely stunning. Had lunch in the main hotel restaurant overlooking Braga – not expensive – most delicious octopus dish ever. Also visit Sé Cathedral in Braga, it’s absolutely beautiful. Spent a lovely day in Guimarães – beautiful medieval town with lovely cobbled streets. Spent a day in Ponte de Lima, very pretty. Found a lovely restaurant up a pretty alley upstream from the bridge – had delicious clams. All in all had a wonderful holiday. If you do barbecue, do barbecue the fantastic oranges. Takes about 10 mins, turning once on low embers – a great way to finish a wonderful day.
