Client Reviews for Islas del Río Miño

We have really enjoyed staying in this lovely, comfortable house. The views are stunning and we also loved the views over the Minho from the Muiños do Folón y Picón above O Rosal and from Monte Santa Trega. We alternated our days between Spain and Portugal – very much enjoyed Caminha and its beaches. Thank you Marta and Javier for the welcome pack and your superbly equipped house. (07/06/2017)

Although no rep the owners were always available, this was useful when the boiler broke down and was repaired swiftly. Very unspoilt and friendly area of Spain, heated pool was great even in early season .

We've had a lovely holiday with the family - first time with the baby abroad! A really comfortable and homely property meant that we could relax from the start. The area is beautiful and we all really enjoyed the mill walk. We’d also recommend the restaurant ‘Casda Chupa Ovos’ in A Guarda – superb value and wonderful food. The pool was just right for us all to enjoy floating about, morning swims and water polo matches. All in all, a brilliant holiday. Thank you! (20/05/2017)

A beautiful, stylish house with amazing views. We really enjoyed the lovely heated pool and outdoor space, but also enjoyed the comforts of the house. San Miguel de Tabagón is situated in a beautiful area and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the footpaths around the Rio Miño, walking around the coast to A Guarda, and going up to the Castro de Santa Tecla; as well as exploring further afield in the car (Santiago, Baiona, Valença and Caminha). We loved the views over to Portugal – if you take the crossing signposted Vila Nova de Cerveira and drive towards Caminha, you get an amazing view of the house from Seixas. Marta and Javier were kind and helpful without being intrusive – we knew where they were when we needed them. Highly recommended – and even better than the pictures on the website! (03/09/2016)

Two weeks of big fun, we leave Islas del Río Miño a happy family with lots of memories. O Muiño beach for a long lunch whilst watching the kids rock pooling was one of the many highlights that also included messing around in the Tamuxe River and surfing in Moledo. We found the villa and Galicia itself to be very accommodating and are already hatching plans for a return. Muchas gracias. (13/08/2016).

We had a great week here. It is a lovely house, beautifully designed and with every convenience. With three kids we were happy to spend most of the time in the lovely pool, seeking some relief from the heat. We had great fun in it. Baiona is a lovely town and A Guarda looks like it could be really interesting although we only drove through it. All in all, a lovely week in a beautiful house in a fascinating part of Spain. A week here has gone quickly- lovely house, very comfortable place to be. The kitchen has been well received as each pair of the eight of us competed in a come dine with me! We enjoyed Tui and really recommend the cathedral and cloisters, with a walk around the old town. Crossing into Portugal we found a wonderful restaurant in the hills above the Minho. For beaches, we found river swimming at the Playa de Eiras just a few km away, but most of all recommend the river beaches by A Guarda. We love this area. (30/07/16)

We have had an amazing week in your villa – not a cloud in the sky all week. The mornings are not as hot as the afternoons so we soon realised that mornings were better for the beach and visits. We have kayaked the Tamuxe River to the gorgeous pool & falls at the end. Walked the Folón & Picón Mills (a must – beautiful) – we even swam in a pool on the way down. Walked Santa Tecla, been to Santiago Ruiz Vineyard – an oasis of beauty & Praia do Muiño. We have eaten out in Casa de la Pintora – Yummy food & fun people. Also ate in Area Grande in A Guarda & in O Lagar en Eiras – beautiful Spanish Restaurant – probably our favourite. Last night we ate in Casa das do Correo in Goian – lovely courtyard. We have been struck by the unspoilt area & how few English people are here – a great get away. Will miss the view from the villa. On this hot week – thank goodness for the fans in the bedroom & the warm swimming pool. We also visited Tui for the market on Thursday which, with 3 teenage girls, was great – they loved it – lots of gorgeous cotton clothes. We have stayed in some beautiful places in Greece & France and this is as stunning as anywhere we have stayed. Thank you for the welcome pack. (23/07/16)

The position, the orientation, the internal and external design of the house are exceptional and staying becomes a delight. It is remarkably flexible with so many different spaces allowing you to enjoy your stay whatever the time of day. Highlights were visits to Baiona – spectacularly beautiful coastal drive followed by a fantastic bay ringed with beaches and a historic town – and the incomparable Santiago de Compostela – well worth the journey. We enjoyed early morning strolls along the fisherman’s walk (both ways), nice and flat and the paths are excellent. Sunsets are lovely. Local food and wine are delicious and the welcome is friendly, warm hearted and generous. We feel very lucky. (16/07/16)

Dear Marta & Javier. We have had an absolutely fantastic holiday. Your house is beautiful; at times it has felt more like we have been staying in a boutique hotel rather than somebody’s home. We were very grateful for the welcome pack. We haven’t left the house much so can’t really recommend much by way of local attractions other than to say that if you are a fan of Aguardiente de Galicia (Spanish Grappa basically), you should visit Pazo de Valdomiño, which is a 20-minute drive away. Thanks again, we would definitely come back. (09/07/16)
