Client Reviews for Islas del Río Miño

Thanks for the stay, love the house and architecture, especially all the raw concrete! A great location, lots to explore. Recommendations for O Lagar En Eiras are valid, we had a fantastic meal there, the evening sharing menu was fantastic. We used Animaminho (for bike hire) in Vila Nova de Cerveira and had a great ride out. Vila Nova de Cerveira and Caminha are both relaxed nice towns. All in all, a great stay. Thank you. (16/09/17)

Had a great time. Intended to be a relaxing holiday for us so didn’t go too far from the house but managed Baiona and Tui as well as several trips to Portugal. Ate in lots of local restaurants – our favourites were Puerto Guardes and Trasmallo which was a little more upmarket in A Guarda and for meat O Lagar En Eiras. We love the cockles here and found that restaurants often have them even if not listed on the menu – just ask. Loved watching (& walking by) the river – we have just watched a group of horses swimming from one island to another and being greeted by their mates as well as an eagle hovering overhead. The pool stayed lovely and warm and has been well used. Thanks to Marta and Javier for their hospitality. (02/09/2017)

We have loved our two weeks in Galicia and have barely scratched the surface of things to see and do! The house is amazing, both beautiful and functional – never get tired of the view across the river to Portugal. We spent a lot of time in the pool and relaxing around it, but we did also go out and about. Mount Santa Tecla is well worth a visit. Coastal drive to Baiona and a picturesque walk around the walls of the Monterreal Fort was good. We took the ferry across to Caminha which is lovely, some interesting shops and a lovely square to relax and have a drink. Our older boys loved the kayaking and our 7-year-old loved the playground at the end of the Roman Bridge which had the added advantage of a café to get ice creams, or a beer! He also loved going down the road to the Panadería for bread in the morning. We enjoyed barbecuing at the house but we ate out a few times as well. At Restaurante Area Grande, eating Pimientos de Padrón, drinking a glass of Albariño and watching the sun set over the Atlantic is one of my favourite memories of a fantastic holiday! Muchas Gracias Marta & Javier – Great hosts! (19/08/17)

We had a lovely two weeks here. This was our very first time visiting Galicia and what a lovely part of Spain it turned out to be. Perfect tranquillity! We made good use of the pool and the River Minho & had great fun Kayaking! Lovely house and in a perfect spot with great views. Thank you very much. (05/08/17)

We’ve had a fabulous holiday staying in your beautiful villa. We have all loved the pool and the views are wonderful. It has been difficult to persuade the children to leave the villa! We did manage a few excursions – ferry trip across to Caminha, trips to local beaches in A Guarda, walks along the river and another trip to Portugal, this time driving to Vilanova de Cerveira just across the bridge. This is our first time holidaying in this region and we definitely hope to return. All three generations have loved our time here. Thank you so much for the very warm welcome. (29/07/17)

Marta & Javier, thank you so much for a wonderful welcome. The house is perfect and we didn’t want to close the blinds in our room so we could always see the lovely view. The pool was so helpful for cooling off and we did many interesting things including; the Celtic village and peaks of A Guarda, the watermills of Folón y Picón, kayaking on the Minho, visiting the fort at Tui and its opposite number across the river in Valença. We also went further afield to Santiago and the Cies Islands and up the beautiful coast road to Baiona and also tried the spa (Talaso Atlántico). We had an amazing holiday and enjoyed the fresh seafood and other delights such as the Pimientos de Padrón and the cheeses. (15/07/2017)

Marta and Javier – thank you so much for your warm welcome. Having travelled with Vintage Travel before this is the 4th property we have stayed in and it is by far the best – it is exceptional and we feel very privileged to have stayed here. We used the pool several times a day and the views are exceptional; it is very relaxing to admire the views. We enjoyed our visit to Santa Trega. If you like fresh seafood, the best we have tasted in years is at the restaurant at Area Grande beach. The seafood in A Guarda is also excellent. O Muiño beach on the River Miño is worth a visit. You could visit the ‘Quinta de Couselo’ vineyard near O Rosal, lovely wine and it can be purchased in the small village shop in O Rosal. (17/06/2017)

We have really enjoyed staying in this lovely, comfortable house. The views are stunning and we also loved the views over the Minho from the Muiños do Folón y Picón above O Rosal and from Monte Santa Trega. We alternated our days between Spain and Portugal – very much enjoyed Caminha and its beaches. Thank you Marta and Javier for the welcome pack and your superbly equipped house. (07/06/2017)

Although no rep the owners were always available, this was useful when the boiler broke down and was repaired swiftly. Very unspoilt and friendly area of Spain, heated pool was great even in early season .

We've had a lovely holiday with the family - first time with the baby abroad! A really comfortable and homely property meant that we could relax from the start. The area is beautiful and we all really enjoyed the mill walk. We’d also recommend the restaurant ‘Casda Chupa Ovos’ in A Guarda – superb value and wonderful food. The pool was just right for us all to enjoy floating about, morning swims and water polo matches. All in all, a brilliant holiday. Thank you! (20/05/2017)
